Students can sign up for ‘Free Sealant Day’
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Free Sealant Day is a one-stop event giving Southern Illinois University Carbondale students vital dental care for an unbeatable price.
The event is one day only, on Valentine’s Day, and students can make appointments on a first-come, first serve basis beginning Monday, Feb. 6. Students pay only the $6 front door fee and for that one price, they get a variety of services. The Student Health Service’s Dental Service will screen students, take any necessary x-rays and apply sealants for no additional charge.
The sealants go on deep fissures to help prevent cavities and make teeth easier to clean. No anesthesia is involved and it takes just a few minutes. Sealants typically cost about $35 per tooth.
But, appointments for Free Sealant Day fill up fast so call 618/536-2421 early starting Feb. 6 to assure a spot.
