Faculty, staff welcome at workshop

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Things happen every day that are beyond our control but our responses are ours for the choosing.

Southern Illinois University Carbondale is hosting the workshop, “How to Handle What Life Dishes Out,” on Dec. 8, offering ideas for handling problems and difficult situations that arise in the workplace.  The presentation is from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Student Health Center Auditorium and all campus faculty and staff are welcome.  It is a Labor and Employee Relations event.

According to Carol Fisher, workforce learning and development officer, the way we communicate with others determines how they view not only us, but also our work and our performance, so how we act and react to criticism and other problems is important.  The focus of the program is on professional integrity and aking actions that concentrate on positive solutions.

Those attending may register at the door or RSVP in advance by emailing Fisher at cefisher@siu.edu.
