School of Music presents Halloween Pops concert

by Andrea Hahn

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- They may be in costume, but there’s no way to disguise good musicians.

The traditional Southern Illinois University Carbondale School of Music Halloween concert, Halloween Pops, is set for Thursday, Oct. 27 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Shryock Auditorium.

Several School of Music ensembles come together to present the musical tribute to the weird and creepy, and the beautiful and mysterious as well.  Among the ensembles on the roster are the Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir, Studio Jazz Orchestra, Southern Illinois Flute Society and more.

As usual, costumes are encouraged. Children are, too.  Little monsters under 5 years old get in for free.  Senior citizens and students can buy tickets for $6.  All others get tickets for $15.

Purchase tickets in advance through SouthernTicketsOnline.com or by calling 618/453-6000. Tickets are also available at the Shryock Auditorium Box Office during standard office hours and beginning one hour before the performance.
