Pianist Garnet Ungar to present free recital

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Pianist Garnet Ungar will visit the School of Music at Southern Illinois University Carbondale for a solo recital and master class Oct. 19-20.

Ungar’s recital, a free performance, begins at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 19 in the Old Baptist Foundation Recital Hall.  The performance is his Liszt 200th Anniversary Concert.

Ungar is associate professor of piano at the University of Evansville.   He performs solo or with orchestras, and offers master classes around the country.  His European concert credits include venues in Switzerland, Sweden, England and Bulgaria.  His recorded performances both solo and in chamber ensembles are available on two CDs, and received airplay from public radio and the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.
