Event offers free tie dye to promote world peace

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The international Day of Peace is Sept. 21 and Southern Illinois University Carbondale is marking the day with Tie Dye for Peace.

All University students are welcome to come to the Free Forum area near the campus parking garage from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and create their very own one-of-a-kind, crazy-colored T-shirts.  The shirts and dyes are all available at no charge but this is a popular event and supplies are limited so participation is on a first-come basis.

WIDB radio will also be on the scene providing music and participants can test their hula-hoops prowess too.  Everything is free and open to all SIUC students.

The Student Programming Council Visual Arts, Multicultural Programs and Services and the Black Resource Center are event sponsors.  For more information, contact SPC Visual Arts at 618/536-3393 or visit the website at www.spc4fun.com.
