Ten Questions with ... Jeff Williams

Job on campus/department you work in:  WSIU Radio, Station Manager/News & Public Affairs Director

How long at SIUC: 14 years

Hometown:  Salem, Ill.

When you were a youngster, what did you want to be when you grew up?  A police officer -- Starsky & Hutch were very cool!

If you could choose another profession, what would it be and why?  Grade school teacher.  Two teachers I will never forget were in fifth grade.  They had a profound impact on how I viewed school and they made learning incredibly fun.

What is something you still want to accomplish in life?  To see my children grow and lead fulfilling lives

People don’t know that you … Collect Hot Wheels

Who inspired you and how?  My Grandfather.  He never met a stranger and always encouraged the best in everyone he worked with. Also, my Father; he was a man of many talents and much patience.

If you could pick an actor/actress to play you in a movie, who would you pick, and why?    Patrick Stewart.  He could make reading the phone book sound riveting.

What is one random fact about you?  Washing my car is very relaxing after a stressful day.

What is your pet peeve?  Drivers who pass in no passing zones.

Favorite cartoon character?  Tigger, because what’s not to love  “they're bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy fun, fun, fun, fun, fun…”

What would you like your gravestone to say about you?  I’m not sure I know yet... but perhaps this quote from Christian Larson: “To think only the best, to work only for the best, and expect only the best.”
