Media Advisory -- Architecture Camp Event

Fifteen high school students from around the United States and Korea will participate in a meeting of area architects Wednesday night as part of the High School Architecture Camp at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to attend the quarterly meeting of the Southern Illinois Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The meeting is from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, at Giant City Lodge.

From 5 to 6 p.m., the students will discuss architecture with local architects. After dinner, the students will learn about local architecture during a presentation on the design and construction of Giant City State Park in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps.

The event is the first time the supporting chapter has had the opportunity to work directly with architecture camp students.
