CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale Chancellor Rita Cheng today (July 7) announced plans designed to maintain the continuity of operations within the Division of Institutional Advancement.

Three individuals who hold key roles in the division -- Jeff Lorber, Elizabeth Banycky and Michelle Suarez -- will continue with their responsibilities and report directly to Cheng. In addition, the University soon will launch a national search to replace Rickey N. McCurry, former vice chancellor of institutional advancement and CEO of the SIU Foundation. McCurry left the University to become vice president of institutional advancement at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

“Jeff, Libby and Michelle bring experience and dedication to their positions and I look forward to their continued leadership with the division,” Cheng said.

Lorber has served as associate vice chancellor for institutional advancement and executive director of development for the SIU Foundation since April 2005. He oversees the fundraising activities of the annual, constituent, corporate, foundation, and planned giving development officers associated with the SIU Foundation. He served as campaign director for SIUC’s successful Opportunity Through Excellence comprehensive campaign.

Banycky, who is a CPA, has served as treasurer for the SIU Foundation for 15 years, and has worked at SIUC for 25 years. She also will assume the responsibilities of the CEO function for the Foundation.

Suarez has served as associate vice chancellor of institutional advancement and executive director of the SIU Alumni Association since August 2009. She joined the Alumni Association in 2003 after spending 17 years as a member of the SIU Arena staff.
