Flags lowered to honor Lura Lynn Ryan

Under a proclamation signed by Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn, the United States flag and the Illinois flag are to be at half-staff at all State of Illinois facilities in honor of Lura Lynn Ryan, the former first lady of Illinois.

Flags are to be flown at half-staff on Friday, July 1, until sunset in her honor. She was the longtime wife of former Gov. George H. Ryan. Mrs. Ryan, 76, died Monday, June 27, at a Kankakee hospital following a battle with lung cancer. Private funeral and burial services were Wednesday.
