Faculty, staff invited to training program

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- All faculty and staff are welcome to attend "The Value of Voltage: Connect the Disconnects," a program from Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Center for Workforce Learning and Development set for Thursday, June 30.

Although disagreements and conflicts may be difficult to avoid, handling conflict properly benefits all involved while strengthening personal growth and bonds between people, and that’s the focus of this session. The program by Carol Fisher, workforce learning and development officer, encourages diffusion of stress, recognition and management of emotional upsets, and facing conflicts in a relaxed, creative way so participants can grow, network and expand relationships in a mutually beneficial way.

The Labor and Employee Relations training program is set for 9:30-11:30 a.m. in Rooms 111-112 at the Student Health Center. There’s no cost to attend but organizers ask that those planning to attend visit http://laborrelations.siuc.edu/training/index.html to reserve a seat. The Division of Continuing Education is the registration coordinator.
