by Nicole Trainor

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Saluki Baseball Camp returns to Abe Martin Field for the 2011 summer camp season.

The Saluki Baseball Camp will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 6-9. This is a commuter camp only with lunch provided for all campers each day.

This camp is geared for players between the ages of 7 and 13 who love the sport of baseball and want to improve their skills in hitting, bunting, base running, infield and outfield play, pitching and specific position techniques. Camp officials will separate the campers into age groups to assure more individualized instruction. All players will have access to SIU baseball facilities and will participate in individual instruction and supervised game activity.

Ken Henderson, P.J. Finigan, and Ryan Strain of the Saluki baseball coaching staff will lead the camp that will also feature instruction by Saluki players and area high school and college coaches.

Individual registration fees received by May 27 are $175; a $50 deposit will hold a spot. Teams of six or more players may register for $155 per person before the May 27 deadline. Registrations received after the early registration deadline will be assessed an additional $10 fee per participant. All camp participants will receive a camp T-shirt, baseball cap, and limited accidental medical coverage.
