Saluki Spring Jam now planned inside Shryock

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- With a nod to Mother Nature, Saluki Spring Jam 2011 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is moving indoors.

The big concert, set for Saturday, April 30, will now be at Shryock Auditorium. Organizers are relocating the concert from the upper arena fields to Shryock due to National Weather Service forecasts calling for a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday night.

Admission to the triple-play concert is still free, but there will now be limited seating. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m.

The concert features The Maine, an alternative rock/pop rock/Indie band along with the electro/pop/electronica sounds of E-603 and the alternative/pop/rock group Sleeperstar.

The concert is open to all and it’s an alcohol-free event.

Event sponsors are the Student Programming Council (SPC), the Student Center, University Housing and Recreational Sports and Services. For more information, contact SPC at 618/536-3393.
