Student Center to host Mother's Day Brunch

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Mother's Day Brunch is an annual tradition at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, a way to honor and celebrate the special women in your life.

The brunch is set for 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 8 in the Student Center Ballrooms.

Several salad selections begin the meal, including spinach and green salad with strawberries and dried fruit, carrot and raisin slaw with sweet honey vinaigrette and ambrosia salad with mandarin, pineapple and coconut. The entrees include apricot glazed roast pork loin, chicken supreme with mushroom cream, roast turkey sausage and biscuits and milk gravy accompanied by sides dishes including Delmonico potatoes, country green beans with caramelized onions and bacon and steamed vegetable medley. Desserts include assorted brownies, cookies, cakes, fresh fruit and sweets.

You can save by purchasing tickets in advance. Advance tickets are $6.75 for children ages 5-10, $12 for SIUC students and senior adults and $13 for the general public. You can purchase tickets at the door but each will cost $1 more. Children age four and under dine free.

To buy advance tickets, visit the business office on the second floor of the Student Center or call 618/453-3478. The office is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
