Registration open for scholarship golf outing
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Registration is open for the Chancellor's Academic Scholarship Golf Outing, hosted by Southern Illinois University Carbondale Chancellor Rita Cheng.
The event is May 20 at the Hickory Ridge Public Golf Center in Carbondale. Golfers can enjoy an early lunch at 11 a.m. followed by a noon shotgun start for the scramble.
The registration deadline is May 10. Individuals may register for $150, while a full six-person team is $900. Registration is limited to the first 144 golfers. The entry fee includes lunch, green fees and a golf cart. Sponsorships are available beginning at $150.
In the event of rain, lunch and door prizes will be available at the pavilion starting at 11 a.m. Competitors will receive a coupon for a round of golf.
The event benefits the Chancellor’s Academic Scholarship, formerly the SIU Presidential Scholarship, one of the most prestigious and comprehensive on campus. Twenty-five students receive the Presidential/Chancellor Scholarship annually, which covers tuition, fees and housing for four years at SIUC. Students who earn the scholarship are among the best in their high school graduating class, show high scores on standardized college entrance exams, and demonstrate leadership roles in their communities.
