Health Center offers stress management workshop

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Stress is an unavoidable part of life. But the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Student Health Center is offering a workshop filled with ideas for managing stress for improved academic success.

“Managing Stress for Academic Performance” is an hour-long workshop beginning at 6 p.m. on April 27 at the Student Health Center Auditorium. Research indicates that stress is the top health factor negatively impacting the academic performance of college students. Barb Elam, stress management coordinator for the Student Health Center, will offer ways to improve focus, reduce anxiety about tests and self-motivate to prepare for final exams.

There is no cost to attend the workshop and everyone is welcome.

The Student Health Center’s Wellness Center is hosting workshops throughout the spring semester highlighting assorted health-related issues.
