Course will focus on digital photography

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Division of Continuing Education is offering a new community program, Introduction to Digital Photography.

The course meets on Tuesdays from April 19 to May 10. The class meets each evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Faner Hall, Room 1024.

The course will provide a basic introduction to digital photography and the visual language associated with the practice and discipline. The class will focus on the formal design elements of photography, camera control operations and the use of automatic settings. Throughout the course, participants will utilize their digital cameras and learn how to use them efficiently and effectively. The objective of the course is for all participants to build a strong sense of appreciation for photography.

Fern Logan, a former SIUC associate professor of cinema and photography, is the course instructor. She is knowledgeable about digital photography and her lessons use skill-building demonstrations to enhance participants’ knowledge of proper digital camera use.

The registration fee is $100 and the registration deadline for Introduction to Digital Photography is April 14.
