Entrepreneurship workshop set in West Frankfort

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Residents of the Franklin County area with an interest in entrepreneurship can get valuable information by participating in a free, informational workshop set for Friday, March 11, in West Frankfort.

The Illinois Small Business Development Center/International Trade Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is sponsoring the seminar, “Starting a Business in Illinois.” It will be at the Sam Mitchell Law Building, located at 115 E. Main St., from 9 to 11 a.m. The workshop is free and it’s not too late to sign up.

The seminar presents the basic requirements and necessities of starting a business in Illinois. That includes setting up the legal structure, business start-up requirements, securing financing and the basics of business planning. Participants can purchase an optional business start-up kit for $15. The kit, available in both electronic and print formats, includes a business start-up checklist, presentation slides from the workshop, a financing question and answer packet, a sample business plant, federal and state tax identification number applications and more.
