Ten questions with ... Megan Lotts

Job on campus/department you work in: Assistant professor and fine arts librarian, Library Affairs.

How long at SIUC: Two years.

Hometown: Born in Schaumburg and mostly grew up in Mattoon.

When you were a youngster, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a teacher or Madonna.

People don’t know that I: know how to play the piano, French horn and bassoon.

If you could choose another profession, what would it be and why? I would like to be the person who comes up with names for colors of crayons. Or, maybe I could work for Ben and Jerry’s as an ice cream flavor mixologist…

What is something you still want to accomplish in life? One day I would like to receive a MacArthur Fellowship.

What was the first “album” you ever bought, and was it an LP, 8-track or CD? The first 45 I ever purchased was a Styx “Mr. Roboto.”

Cats or dogs? I like most animals and currently I live with three canines and one turtle: Vincent Vega (3), Cleopatra (11), Willamae (8), and Mr. Turtle (age unknown.)

What is your favorite food and why? I don’t have a favorite food per se, but I’ll take salty over sweet any day.

What is your pet peeve? People who waste my time or have bad table manners.

Favorite cartoon character? Why? Lisa Simpson, because she’s a young cartoon girl who’s trying to keep it real.
