Art Alley available for students to display work

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Art Alley at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Student Center offers students a special place to showcase their creations.

The Student Programming Council (SPC) oversees the displays in the three enclosed glass cases on the second floor of the Student Center near the International Lounge. Any undergraduate or graduate student can participate. Each show typically lasts about a month.

SPC provides show cards, an open reception, and the chance for students, faculty, staff and Student Center visitors to see the artwork. Any two-dimensional or 3-D art that fits within the cases is acceptable and there’s even electricity if needed.

The call is out now for SIUC student artists interested in showing their work during the spring 2011 semester. For more information about submitting artwork or joining the SPC Visual Art Committee, look online at www.spc4fun.com or call 618/536-3393.
