Simon Institute plans post-election discussion

by Pete Rosenbery

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Paul Simon Public Policy Institute next week will offer political enthusiasts a chance to discuss the results of the Nov. 2 election in a relaxed atmosphere.

Institute Director David Yepsen, visiting professor John S. Jackson, and Charles W. Leonard, a visiting professor and director of the Institute’s polling initiatives, will offer election analysis at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, in the Institute lobby.

Admission is free, and the event is open to the public. The Institute will also live stream the post-election discussion from the Institute so those who cannot attend in person may watch it live via the Institute’s website www.paulsimoninstitute.org.

Many people will want to know what happened and why along with what the results mean, Yepsen said. At the same time, the forum will give people a chance to compare notes and share with others what they see in the election, Yepsen said.
