CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Suzanne Altobello Nasco is the new director of the MBA program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

“I am very excited to take on this new challenge as the SIUC College of Business MBA director. My primary goals are to increase promotion and recruitment for our MBA programs, to improve career placement assistance for MBA students and to increase alumni relationships with graduates of our MBA program,” said Nasco. “I also look forward to working with College of Business faculty and staff to foster an even stronger commitment to student service in our MBA programs.”

Nasco is an associate professor of marketing at the University, teaching in the College of Business. Her courses include study abroad field seminars in international business for undergraduate and MBA students, marketing management, promotional strategy and management and a doctoral seminar in multivariate statistics. She also works with students in independent study.

Nasco assumed the director’s position in July. She fills the vacancy created when Donald Gribbin departed in 2005.

“I am impressed with her views and ideas for the future of the program, as well as her long-standing commitment to the college. I am confident that, with the cooperation of the graduate faculty, Dr. Nasco will provide strong and effective leadership,” said Dennis Cradit, dean of the College of Business.

Nasco is also a member of the international faculty at the Grenoble Graduate School of Business at Grenoble Ecole de Management in Grenoble, France. She has taught a variety of courses there since 2008. She was previously a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business.

She earned her doctorate and master’s degrees, both in social psychology, at the University of Notre Dame. She also holds a bachelor’s of science in psychology, graduating with highest honors, and a minor in business administration, from the University of Florida.

While at SIUC, Nasco has amassed a number of awards and honors including being the faculty scholar for the College of Business all but one year between 2004 and 2010. She was the college’s Research Excellence Award winner for 2008. She received the Phillips Moore Dissertation Fellowship Award at the University of Notre Dame in 1999 along with other honors at Notre Dame and the University of Florida.

She is the recipient of numerous research grants and her work is widely published in refereed journals and in other venues. Nasco has also made conference presentations and lectured all over the world, served as an industry consultant, and is very active in university and community service.
