Young Writers Workshop set for June 22-26

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The 2010 Young Writers Workshop is coming to Southern Illinois University Carbondale June 22-26.

This five-day workshop is open to high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. It gives participants the chance to explore and develop their talents in poetry and prose writing.

Students will hone their writing skills by participating in daily critique sessions led by SIUC faculty as well as by attending panels, readings and craft discussions lead by SIUC creative writing faculty and graduate students. The workshop director is Allison Joseph, an award-winning writer and faculty member in the University’s creative writing program within the English department.

The resident camper fee is $300 while commuter campers pay $250. Camp enrollment is limited to 30 participants. Registration is on a first come, first served basis.

Participants must submit a $70 non-refundable deposit and register no later than June 4.
