Student Center to host Mother’s Day Brunch

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Student Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale will host the popular annual Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, May 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the ballrooms. Everyone is welcome.

The brunch begins with artichoke Italian salad with Parmesan vinaigrette, house-made sweet pickles and broccoli, apple and raisin salad. The entrees are cranberry glazed ham, roasted baron of beef, fried chicken drummies and country scramble. Side dishes include butter-whipped potatoes and milk gravy, steamed vegetable medley and green beans with caramelized onion and bacon. Featured desserts are lemon torte, fruit cobbler, chocolate and raspberry mousse, assorted cookies and fresh fruit. The brunch also includes dinner rolls and butter, orange juice, iced tea and coffee.

Purchased in advance, tickets are $13 for the general public, $12 for SIUC students and senior citizens and $6.75 for children ages 5-10. Tickets are $1 higher at the door. As always, children four and younger eat free.
