CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Knowing what to do when dining out in a formal setting doesn’t just happen -- it requires skills and technique. The Spring 2010 Professional Etiquette Dinner at Southern Illinois University Carbondale offers all the requisite tools.

University Housing and Career Services are sponsoring the event April 25, 5-7:30 p.m. The setting is Lentz Hall’s Dining Room #5.

SIUC students will enjoy a five-course meal as they learn all the ins and outs of dining to impress, whether for business or personal reasons. Selecting a wardrobe, handshake techniques, and marketing yourself during interviews, business meetings and seminars are on the agenda. Participants will learn the dining basics including which fork to use when and proper table manners so they can confidently present themselves in professional settings.

Tickets are $15 each and you can purchase them at the Residence Hall Dining office on the lower level of Grinnell Hall. The office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Ticket sales are in advance only and the deadline for purchase is April 15.

Organizers encourage students to wear office attire to the dinner. For more information, call 618/453-2649 or look online atwww.housing.siu.edu.
