SPC plans day trip to Six Flags St. Louis

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- If roller coasters, Ferris wheels and rides galore are your idea of fun, you’ll be interested in a spring trip sponsored by Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Student Programming Council Special Events. It’s a day trip to Six Flags St. Louis.

The trip is April 24 with buses departing from the Student Center at 7 a.m. and arriving at the park around the time it opens. Trip participants will board the chartered buses at 7 p.m. for the return trip to the SIUC Student Center.

Tickets for the trip are $48 each and include access to the amusement park, round trip transportation and a lunch buffet. Since the trip is early in the Six Flags season, the water park won’t be open as yet. But, organizers note that the trip is a bargain because the price for park tickets and parking alone typically runs about $50 and that doesn’t include the cost of travel and food.

Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, March 16, at the Central Ticket Office on the second floor of the Student Center. The trip is an open activity but SIUC students will get priority status for available seating.
