Blood drive planned for Friday at Morris Library

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- You can give the gift of life Friday, Jan. 29, at Morris Library on the campus of Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

An American Red Cross blood drive is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the first-floor rotunda of the library.  The need for blood donors is constant and all types of blood are essential to assure the Red Cross maintains adequate supplies.

Walk-in donors are welcome or you can schedule an appointment by contacting Heather Willis by telephone at 618/453-2681 or by e-mail at hwillis@lib.siu.edu.

When donating, bring a blood donor card, driver’s license or two other forms of identification to the check-in table.  Donors must be in good general health, weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old, or age 16 with a completed parental consent form.  See www.bloodisneeded.org for more information about eligibility and donating blood.

Should inclement weather come to SIUC, it could necessitate rescheduling of the blood drive.
