Ten questions with ... Sheila Simon

Job on campus/department you work in: clinical associate professor, SIU School of Law

How long at SIUC: I started part-time teaching in 1994.

Hometown: Carbondale

When you were a youngster, what did you want to be when you grew up? A teacher! It took a while to get back to that original plan.

If you could choose another profession, what would it be and why? Medicine -- then I would have skills that would be useful anywhere in the world.

What is something you still want to accomplish in life? Continue to be amazed by my daughters.

What was the first “album” you ever bought, and was it an LP, 8-track or CD? Bobby Sherman, an LP.

Who inspired you and how? I try to hang out with positive, creative people. They inspire me all the time.

If you could pick an actor/actress to play you in a movie, who would you pick and why? Geena Davis, because she has a way-too-big-smile like me, and because Groucho Marx is no longer available.

What is one random fact about you? I want Carbondale to have a public, outdoor pool, and I would happily pay increased taxes for it.

Cats or dogs? Frogs.

What is your pet peeve? Assumptions posed as facts.

Favorite cartoon character? Why? Shrek. I love the message and the swamp karaoke.
