Dance Company to present fall performances

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- IN CONCERT is a feast for the eyes, ears and soul at Southern Illinois University Carbondale this weekend. It’s dance of all kinds set to music spanning a wide spectrum.

The Southern Illinois Dance Company’s annual fall concerts include a performance at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, and a Saturday, Dec. 5, matinee at 2 p.m. Both are in Furr Auditorium in Pulliam Hall 42 on the SIUC campus.

Students and faculty dance artisans choreographed the show. Featured University and community dancers will perform modern, jazz, hip hop and ballet dance. Musical selections include Cypress Hill, Jordin Sparks, Kings of Leon, Azure Ray, The Use and Michel Jackson. Highlights include a short performance piece by Donna Wilson, artistic director of the dance company. The eclectic blend of dance and music assures enjoyment for those of all tastes and passions.

It’s a PG-13 show due to language in some of the songs.

General admission tickets are $8 each. Tickets are $5 for students and seniors or $4 for children age 15 and younger. Get your tickets at the door.

The Furr Auditorium Renovation Fundraising Program kicked off this fall and so far supporters have collected $1,666 toward the estimated $200,000 cost of renovations, including new light rigging, additional lighting and electrical work.
