by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Robert Livingston is the August winner of the Leadership Team Member of the Month honors for Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Recreational Sports and Services.

Livingston, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., is a three-year employee of RSS. He works as climbing wall supervisor/student supervisor. Working at the Base Camp, he has increased usage of the climbing wall and has compiled a database of those regularly using the wall so staff can inform them of upcoming events and activities of interest. After completing his undergraduate education at SIUC in political science, Livingston is a first-year graduate student in international relations.

“Rob has been a valuable member of our Base Camp staff for three years,” said Jeff Goelz, assistant director of aquatics and sport clubs for RSS. “He excels in leading trips and as our climbing wall supervisor. His experience and professionalism make him a role model for our entire student staff.”

The son of Bob and Jane Strain, Livingston plans to complete his master’s degree in international relations and seek employment overseas guiding outdoor adventure trips, something he currently enjoys doing in the U.S.

The Leadership Team award goes monthly to a member of the team, which is comprised of full-time staff, graduate assistants and student employees. Full-time staff members chose the winner from among the nominations with the award recognizing extraordinary leadership and teamwork skills.
