Ten questions with ... Laurie Bell

How long at SIUC: Six years

Hometown: Virginia Beach, Va. I attended the Frank W. Cox High School.

People don’t know that you… I was the citywide Virginia Beach 11, 12, and 13-year-old ping-pong champion.

What is something you still want to accomplish in life? Fit into a size 6!

What was the first “album” you ever bought, and was it an LP, 8-track or CD? Honestly, I can’t remember. Either Loggins and Messina, “Sittin In,” or a John Denver album.

If you could pick an actor/actress to play you in a movie, who would you pick and why? Sandra Bullock, because she can laugh at herself.

What is one random fact about you? I love freshly picked corn on the cob with lots of butter.

What is your favorite food? Hot and Sour Soup at Hunan’s or the Tequilla Burrito at Trés Hombres. They are the best.

Who has inspired you, and how? Nancy Fowlkes, my high school field hockey coach, and Noel Wallace, my college philosophy professor.

What is your pet peeve? Punctuality.

What would you like your gravestone to say about you? “She made the dash count.” (birth -- death)

Favorite cartoon character? Why? Johnny Quest, because he was all about adventure.
