‘Maps by Morris’ helps students navigate campus

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- New students will have an easier time navigating the Southern Illinois University Carbondale campus after stopping by the “Maps by Morris” tent Aug. 24 or 25.

Morris Library staff volunteers will be in the tent, located on the north lawn of Morris Library, from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. those first two days of classes. Staff will distribute complete campus maps and dispense free bottled water and ice.

But that’s not all. At the tent you can get customized directions to any place on campus you might want to go. Returning students are welcome to stop by too to enjoy the hospitality and ask about places on campus they’re unfamiliar with.

“Maps by Morris,” an annual event since 2005, is part of the University’s effort to welcome new and returning students and start off the new school year on a positive note.
