Music festival brings chamber music to Cedarhurst

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale brings a chamber music performance to the Cedarhurst Center for the Arts in Mount Vernon as part of the Southern Illinois Music Festival.

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. on June 28. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $3 for students of all ages. The chamber performance features a wind quintet and a piano quintet.

The Southern Illinois Music Festival is a multi-venue festival bringing classical and jazz music to the greater Southern Illinois and Metro East area. Other highlights of the festival this year include the lauded piano and strings trio Eroica; a presentation of the magical ballet Coppélia; the Verdi opera, sung in Italian with English supertitles, La Traviata; and Haydn’s oratorio The Creation.
