Summer volleyball camps planned at SIUC

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Division of Continuing Education is teaming with Saluki volleyball to offer specialty clinics and camps this summer. The programs are open to junior high and high school girls who want to improve their skills on the court.

The volleyball camps and clinics provide instruction for individuals, teams and specialty positions including setters, hitters and defensive specialists. Participants can expect to improve their skills and increase their team output and motivation in the upcoming season.

The one-day clinics are from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays in Davies Gymnasium on the University campus. Setters and Middle Hitters Clinic is June 6. Outside Hitters Clinic is set for June 13 while Defensive Specialist Clinic follows on June 20. Registration for each clinic is $60 per participant.

Junior High Volleyball Camp is June 10-12 providing instruction in fundamental skills and teamwork. High School Individual and Team Camp is July 8-10 and features instruction in technique enhancement, offensive and defensive tactics and team building. Both camps include instruction in the morning with competition in the afternoon and evening.

Participants may register for the Junior High Camp as overnight campers for $210 or as commuters for $160. Registration for the High School Camp is $245 for overnight participants and $190 for commuters.
