by Andrea Hahn

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Registration is open for the annual Presidential Scholarship Golf Scramble, hosted by SIU President Glenn Poshard.

The event is May 15 at the Hickory Ridge Public Golf Center in Carbondale. Golfers can enjoy an early lunch at 10:30 a.m., followed by a noon shotgun start for the scramble.

The registration deadline is May 6. Individuals may register for $150, while a full, six-person team is $900. The entry fee includes lunch, green fees and a golf cart.

Those who want to enter their names for the drawings and prizes but don’t want to golf can register for $20. Hole sponsorships are available beginning at $200.

This event benefits the SIUC Presidential Scholarship, one of the most prestigious and comprehensive on campus. A Presidential Scholarship includes tuition, fees, and room and board for four years at SIUC. Students who earn a Presidential Scholarship are among the best in their high school graduating classes, show high scores on standardized college entrance exams, and demonstrate leadership roles in their communities. Typically, about 18 students earn Presidential Scholarships each year at SIUC.
