SIUC to host workshop for teachers June 22-26

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Eighth Annual Teachers Academy for Lifelong Learning Conference is coming to Southern Illinois University Carbondale, June 22-26.

Pre-kindergarten through high school teachers, higher education faculty and staff, counselors, administrators and future teachers will all find topics of interest at the conference. The theme of this summer’s workshop is "Addressing the Needs of the 21st Century Classroom.” Each day of the workshop features special presenters of diverse backgrounds and experiences sharing about cultural diversity, response to intervention, technology and assessment.

The workshop runs 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to noon Friday on the SIUC campus. Participants are also welcome to attend a wine and cheese reception kick-off at the Stone Center 5-7 p.m. Sunday, June 21.

Participants may earn, at their option, two hours of graduate credit through the SIUC College of Education and Human Services or 25 Continuing Professional Education Units (CPDUs) through the Illinois State Board of Education. There are 25 graduate credit waivers available on a first come, first served basis.

There’s a $95 registration fee for all participants. The registrations are due by June 12.
