SIUC Guitar Ensemble plans end-of-year concert

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Guitar Ensemble offers a Spanish and Latin American composer fiesta for an end-of-year concert.

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, in the Old Baptist Foundation Recital Hall. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for students.

Joseph Breznikar, director, said the concert includes works by Spanish classical guitar composers Manuel de Falla and Isaac Albeniz, Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, contemporary Latin Grammy nominee Raul Maldonado (Puerto Rico) and Mexican composer Manuel Ponce.

In addition, the ensemble will play “Concierto de Samba” by Klaus Wusthoff and “Petite Piece” by Claude Debussy.
