Media Advisory -- Bankers’ Breakfast

Community lenders from throughout Southern Illinois will gather this week at Southern Illinois University Carbondale to learn about how the new economic stimulus package will affect the banking industry and its customers. Reporters, photographers and news crews are welcome to attend the breakfast, set for 7:30-9:30 a.m. Friday, March 27, in the atrium at Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center at 150 E. Pleasant Hill Road, Carbondale.

“This event will serve two purposes,” said Lynn Anderson Lindberg, director of the Small Business Development Center. “We’ll learn which banks are still lending money and it will provide the area’s community lenders with updates on the services that units at Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center as well as the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis can provide to them and their borrowers.”

Guest speakers will be Jean Morisseau-Kuni, community development specialist from the Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis, and Valerie Ross, branch manager from the U.S. Small Business Administration in Springfield. About 30 area lenders and staff plan to attend the bankers’ breakfast.
