CARBONDALE -- Nature photographer Tom Ulrich returns to Southern Illinois University Carbondale this month for his annual presentation of wildlife photos from around the world.

Ulrich will present his latest work at 7 p.m. Monday, March 16, in room 161 at Lawson Hall on the SIUC campus. It is free and open to the public.

A 1971 SIUC graduate in biological sciences and a former area high school biology teacher, Ulrich returns to SIUC each year with dazzling photos of wildlife and places he has traveled, delivered with a humor-filled presentation that includes his insights on photo technique and animal behavior. His presentation this year focuses on wildlife in Africa, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Texas and Glacier National Park.

National publications including National Geographic, National Wildlife and Time magazine have featured Ulrich’s photos. He also is the publisher of several books, field guides and calendars.

A native of Chicago, Ulrich now lives near Glacier National Park in Montana. He has been a freelance photographer since 1975.

A life member of the SIU Alumni Association, Ulrich is a charter member and fellow with the North American Nature Photography Association and a member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America. He also is a member of the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Writers and Photographers.

The SIUC Department of Zoology, Zoology Club, student chapter of The Wildlife Society and the Southern Illinois Photographic Society are sponsoring the event.
