Ballroom dance class planned for spring

by Ashley McRaven

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Are you looking for new and exciting ways to exercise your body and mind? The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Division of Continuing Education is offering a second session this spring of Beginning Ballroom Dancing.

Class participants will learn a variety of basic steps in three of the most common ballroom dances: rumba, cha cha and swing. Beginners and veteran dancers will get a quick introduction to the basic steps as well as lead-follow and proper dance technique. Session II of Beginning Ballroom Dancing meets 7:30-9 p.m. on Tuesday evenings from March 17 through April 21 at SIUC’s Pulliam Hall.

Courses are open to couples or singles. Registration is $30 per participant. This dance session is the last chance to learn from longtime dance instructors Greg and Pat White.

To register, or for more information, contact the Division of Continuing Education at 618/536-7751 or visit the Web site at https://www.dce.siu.edu.
