Workshop, luncheon mark Social Work Day

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Gary L. Lemmon, owner of a counseling agency in Norris City, will offer an ethics workshop for human service professionals Monday, March 2, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Student Center’s John Corker Lounge. The workshop, which focuses on ethical dilemmas, conflicts of interest, confidentiality and fiduciary relations, starts at 9 a.m. and runs until noon. Participants may earn three continuing education credits.

SIUC’s School of Social Work and the regional chapter of the National Association of Social Workers are sponsoring the workshop in celebration of National Social Work Day. The school also is holding its annual awards luncheon from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. that same day in the Student Center as part of the celebration.

The luncheon and workshops carry registration fees. Professionals wishing to attend both events will pay $75; those who want to attend the luncheon only will pay $20. Students will pay $5 for each event.
