Chester High to host SWIC-SIUC Saluki Night

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Fans attending the Chester High School boys’ basketball game Friday, Feb. 13, may experience momentary confusion when they look around the gymnasium. That’s because the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Saluki band, cheerleaders and Saluki Shakers will be performing alongside their Chester counterparts during that evening’s game.

SIUC and Southwestern Illinois College are joining forces with Chester High School for an entertaining and informative night of sporting fun. The SWIC-SIUC Saluki Night action starts at 6:30 p.m. at Chester High School, located at 1901 Swanwick St.

While the Chester Yellowjackets take on the Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats on the basketball court, fans can also visit SIUC and SWIC recruiting tables. Representatives of both institutions will answer questions and distribute helpful information.

The first 250 fans in the door get a free SWIC-SIUC Saluki rally towel. Numerous raffles and drawings for great prizes from area businesses are also on tap for Saluki Night at Chester.

Admission at the door is $3 for adults, $2 for senior citizens or $1 for students. For more information, call SWIC’s Red Bud campus at 618/282-6682, ext. 8114.
