Band Day set for Saturday at McAndrew Stadium
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Marching Salukis will get a little assistance with their part of the halftime show on Saturday, Nov. 8 -- from about 800 high school, junior high and middle school band members.
The 2008 Band Day sees a compilation of students coming to Southern Illinois University Carbondale to join in with the marching band at halftime of SIUC’s home game against Western Illinois University. This year, for the first time, dance teams from the visiting schools will join the Saluki Shakers as well.
“This is going to be an amazing day for all those who participate,” Andrew Tucker, assistant director of bands and director of the SIUC Marching Salukis, said. “We would like to thank the athletic department and especially Mark Scally for making this all possible.”
Those who want to join the band members, band directors and chaperones at the game should inquire about group rate tickets Kick-off is at 2 p.m., but band members should attend the morning rehearsal at McAndrew Stadium. Call the University Bands/Orchestra Office at 618/453-2776 for more information.
