Four new faculty members join College of Business

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- New faculty members will join the College of Business at Southern Illinois University Carbondale this fall.

“These scholars are excellent additions to an already outstanding business faculty,” said Dean J. Dennis Cradit.

The new faculty members are:

• Marc E. Morris, assistant professor of accounting.

Morris holds a bachelor’s degree in university studies and an MBA from SIUC. He earned a law degree from the University of Wisconsin and is completing a doctorate in accounting from SIUC.

Morris teaches advanced tax and partnership taxation. He researches corporate governance, financial reporting and disclosure, accounting controls, law and accounting regulatory issues and competitive compensation.

• Jamie John McNutt, assistant professor of finance.

McNutt is a three-degree graduate of SIUC, earning a bachelor’s degree in business economics and finance in 1997, an MBA in 1999 and a doctorate in finance in 2005.

McNutt teaches financial markets and financial institutions. He researches commercial banking, corporate finance and executive compensation.

Since 2005, McNutt has been a faculty member of Rutgers School of Business in Camden, N.J.

• Ramon P. Rodriguez, Jr., assistant professor of accounting.

Rodriguez is a dual-degree graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio, earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1999 an MBA in 2001. He holds a doctorate in international business from the University of Texas at El Paso. He is a certified public accountant.

Rodriguez teaches tax, financial, international and managerial accounting. He performs international archival research in financial and managerial accounting.

• Li Xu, assistant professor of accounting.

Xu earned a bachelor’s degree in international finance from China’s Wuhan University in 1999, a master’s degree in finance and banking services from Boston’s Suffolk University in 2001 and a doctorate in business administration from Duke University in 2006.

Xu teaches financial, intermediate and managerial accounting, investment management, financial statement analysis and accounting principles. She researches market anomaly and trading strategies, corporate disclosures, financial analysts and institutional investors and earnings management.
