Campus Safety Alert Southern Illinois University Carbondale May 8, 2008

Southern Illinois University Carbondale police are investigating a strong-arm robbery and battery that occurred between 1:30 and 2 a.m., Thursday, May 8, on Logan Drive, by parking lot 62, south of Wright Hall.

A 44-year-old SIUC student told police he was hit on the left temple and pushed to the ground while walking to his residence from the Faner Hall computer lab. The victim’s backpack was taken. The victim believes there is more than one suspect but no descriptions are available.

The victim was not injured and refused medical treatment.

Police advise members of the campus community to use Saluki Express, Night Safety Transit Service and Brightway Path when traveling at night. In addition, emergency call phones are located across campus, including on both overpasses.
