SIU Day approaches at Busch, Wrigley
CARBONDALE, Ill. — Whether Cardinals fan or Cubs diehard, it's about being a Saluki at SIU Day at the ballparks.
The SIU Alumni Association hosts its 23rd annual SIU Day at Busch Stadium on Wednesday, July 25, in St. Louis. It hosts the 30th annual SIU Day at Wrigley Field on Aug. 19 in Chicago. Both games feature the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs going head to head.
For the July 25 Busch Stadium game: SIU Alumni Association members may attend a pre-game social at the St. Louis Hilton at the Ballpark Walnut Street Patio from 5 to 6:45 p.m. prior to the 7:10 p.m. game. Association members' game tickets are for the Infield Terrace Reserved section and include a buffet featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken sandwiches, coleslaw, baked beans, chips, cookies and brownies. Tickets are $50.
For the Aug. 19 Wrigley Stadium game: SIU Alumni Association members may attend a pre-game social at the Cubby Bear Lounge, owned by SIUC alumnus George Loukas. The lounge is just across the street from Wrigley Field. Association members' game tickets are for the Terrace Reserved section. Tickets are $35 and include one beverage at Cubby Bear. For $12 more, members receive a meal with bratwurst, hot dogs, chips, coleslaw and potato salad.
SIU Alumni Association tickets must be ordered through the SIU Alumni Association office – association tickets are not sold online. All SIU Alumni Association members may order tickets by calling 618/453-2408. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. There are no cancellations or refunds. More than 900 tickets for Wrigley Field and more than 200 tickets for Busch stadium are sold already.
Membership in the SIU Alumni Association is open to alumni, students and friends of SIU. Annual individual membership is $40. Life membership is $500, installment plans available. Student memberships are $15. To join, call 618/453-2408 or log on to www.siualumni.com.
