SIUC to host summer volleyball camps

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Saluki Volleyball will provide a series of exciting camps this summer at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

The camps are designed to help players at all levels improve and develop their physical and mental skills. Instruction will be provided for individuals, teams and specialty positions such as setters, hitters and defensive specialists at the junior high and high school levels.

The following camps will be offered on the Southern Illinois University Carbondale campus:

• Saluki Volleyball Setters/Middle Hitters Clinic, June 9

• Saluki Volleyball Outside Hitter Clinic, June 16

• Saluki Volleyball Defensive Specialist Clinic, June 23

These three, one-day specialty clinics for grades six-12 are designed to assist players in developing their full potential in the chosen specialized position. The majority of practice is spent improving basic skills and developing advanced techniques. All of the basic skills are practiced and refined as they relate specifically to chosen specialized position.

• Saluki Volleyball Junior High Camp, July 6-8

This fun and exciting camp for grades six-eight will provide enthusiastic teaching of fundamental skills and teamwork.

• Saluki Volleyball High School Camp, July 9-12

This camp will provide technique enhancement for each individual, introduce offensive and defensive tactics and raise the level of team chemistry. This camp runs concurrently with team camp. Individuals attending will be placed on a team for the competition phase of the camp.

• Saluki Volleyball Team Camp, July 9-12

This camp will provide technique enhancement for each individual, introduce offensive and defensive tactics and raise the level of team chemistry. Each team in attendance will train and compete as a team. Camp format is instruction in the morning, competition in the afternoon and evening. Registration is limited to one team per school with a minimum of 10 players and a maximum of 12.
