by K.C. Jaehnig

CARBONDALE, Ill. — A free program on farm safety and rural rescue will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, April 13, at the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Safety Center, 1438 Douglas Drive, across from the campus lake beach.

Myron Albers, an instructor in the College of Agricultural Science's Department of Plant, Soil and Agricultural Systems, and nurse Shelly Kuhn will present the three-hour program, which will feature such topics as proper lighting for farm equipment and how to avoid accidents.

"Much of this is common sense, but common sense is often not so common, so it's good to be reminded," said Peggy A. Wilken, clinical assistant professor in the Department of Health Education and Recreation.
