by Pete Rosenbery

CARBONDALE, Ill. — A teacher career fair at Southern Illinois University Carbondale next week will offer students, alumni and interested community members a first-hand look at job opportunities around the country.

The event, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, March 7, in the Student Center Ballrooms, will feature representatives from more than 17 school districts. Registration is not necessary and admission is free.

Job seekers should bring multiple copies of their resumes and any other pertinent credentials, and should dress appropriately.

The school districts attending will be looking to fill positions for the upcoming academic year. Openings are at the elementary and secondary grade levels, in special education, and school counselor and administrator positions. Some districts are looking for special education and speech language pathologists.

Participants will include school district representatives from throughout Illinois as well as from school districts in Missouri, Tennessee and Kentucky. Career Services updates the list of participants as they register.
