CARBONDALE, Ill. – Allison E. Joseph, head of the master's program in creative writing at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, is the winner of yet another national award.

The associate professor of English is the recipient of a $5,000 prize in the 2006 Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry contest for her poems "Cartography" and "Emergency Librarian."

"I am thrilled and honored by this gift," Joseph said.

The Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Memorial Fund recognizes young poets with unusual promise. The late Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg was a published poet in California.

Joseph joined the SIUC faculty in 1994. She earned a bachelor's degree from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, in 1988 and a master of fine arts from Indiana University in 1992.
