Spring theater season offers plenty of variety

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois University Carbondale's theater department this spring will present one of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years.

Directed by Tim Fink, the Tony award-winning play "Urinetown" will run April 25- 29 in McLeod Theater, located in the Communications Building. Performance times are 7:30 p.m. for the Wednesday through Saturday shows and 2 p.m. for the Sunday show.

"Urinetown" was nominated for an impressive nine Tony Awards, winning for Best Book, Score and Direction in 2002. The Broadway hit is just one of a diverse group of performances during the spring season of SIUC's theater department.

There will be a pre-show lecture at 1:30 p.m. prior to each Sunday matinee.

Individual tickets are $15 adult, $12 senior and $6 child/student. A four-show season ticket costs $50 for adults, $40 for seniors and $20 child/student. Additional show tickets are available at a price of $12 adult, $10 senior and $6 child/student at the time a season ticket is purchased.
